To ensure a lifelike and long-lasting restoration, we will custom-create each one specifically for each of our patients’ smiles. To start, we need to remove a thin layer of enamel from the tooth receiving one. Next, we take detailed impression and images of your tooth. Using this information, we can create a veneer from porcelain, a strong material that is translucent like tooth enamel. The restoration can absorb pressure and bite forces, and also be shaded to match the color of nearby teeth. The material even contains stain-resistant properties!
Once your complete, you will return to the office so we can place it with a powerful bonding agent, the same we use to secure crowns and other restorations. Once in place, we can address issue with a tooth’s shape and surface appearance. Placement also closes gaps between the teeth, lengthens worn-down teeth, and repairs minor damage, such as chips and cracks. We can correct the appearance of minor misalignment, providing an alternative to orthodontics for some patients. They can also mask permanent teeth stains, which form below the tooth enamel and may not respond to most teeth whitening treatments.
Prior to creating your restoration, we may actually whiten your teeth to ensure the new veneer we design will match your brightest possible smile. In addition, we can reserve them for the front-facing teeth and use bonding to address esthetic concerns on the side and rear teeth, meaning we can transform your smile’s appearance and perform a smile makeover in a cost-effective manner. To find out if these options are right for your smile, schedule a cosmetic consultation. We will examine your teeth to assess the cause and severity of your esthetic issues, and then create a personalized treatment plan.
