Repairing Your Chipped Tooth In One Day

During the summer we tend to be more active, enjoying the warm weather, playing sports, or just heading outdoors to hike. However, while being active is good for our overall wellbeing, sometimes sports and other activities could lead to a chipped or cracked tooth. Fortunately, for residents of Tucson, AZ, we can often repair damage in one visit with dental bonding.

Dental Bonding and Contouring

Cosmetic bonding and contouring helps repair minor damage in just one visit. With bonding, we begin by preparing a composite resin material, the same used in our tooth-colored dental fillings. We clean the teeth and then etch the surface around the damaged portion. The etching helps keep the material in place as we apply the composite resin in several layers. Prior to placement, we shade the material to better match the surrounding tooth structure. Once in place, we shape the composite resin as it cures under a light. Finally, we polish the tooth for a more lifelike appearance!

Contouring also addresses chipped teeth, as well as misshapen and pointed teeth. However, instead of adding material to the tooth, we gently remove a layer by buffing the tooth. We can reshape the tooth and correct cosmetic issues in just one visit.

Don’t Ignore That Chipped Tooth!

Sometimes, the damage to your tooth appears very minor, so minor in fact that you may not schedule a visit. However, even minor damage could allow bacteria to move past by the outer enamel and reach the inner layers of dentin, causing a cavity to form. Along with cavities comes toothaches and tooth sensitivity, as well as increased risks of dental infection. If you sustain an injury and no damage is present, still consider scheduling a visit to ensure your tooth hasn’t become fractured, as cracks may be practically invisible to the naked eye.

Crowns and Veneers

We can also repair more substantial damage! With CAD/CAM technology, we can create restorations, such as crowns and veneers, and place them in just one visit. Made from lifelike materials, these restorations will blend with the smile and provide strong and long-lasting repair for chips, breakage, cracks, and more. If you have any questions about same day tooth repair, or if you would like to schedule an appointment, then contact our team today. We’re ready to help transform your smile!
