Let’s face it, during the holidays you can become super busy and super stressed. When it comes time to crash at night you may be tempted to skip brushing and flossing. Our advice to you? Don’t. We realize that you have a long to-do list, along with a gift list, and probably other lists too, but put your dental health on your holiday list this year! If you’re wondering what that means, take our fun quiz below to find out.

Multiple Choice Quiz:

A.Try to avoid the following during the holidays:

  1. Candy Canes
  2. Fruit Cake
  3. Crisp Veggies
  4. Both A and B

B. These foods and beverages are good for your teeth:

  1. Water
  2. Cheese
  3. Gum
  4. All of the above

C. Taking care of your teeth includes the following. Especially during the holidays!

  1. Brushing once in the morning for two minutes
  2. Brushing before bed for two minutes
  3. Flossing daily
  4. All of the above

Answers:

A. 4: Candy canes, fruit cake, and other sticky sweets should be avoided. They are high in sugar and stick to your teeth. The longer sugar is in contact with your teeth, the higher the chance of developing tooth decay. Crisp veggies on the other hand are a tooth-friendly food!

B. 4: Water, cheese, and sugarless gum are all tooth-friendly. If you can’t brush your teeth, you should drink plenty of water or rinse with water after eating and snacking. Cheese helps keep the acids in your mouth in balance, and chewing sugarless gum after meals can help reduce tooth decay.

C. 4: The American Dental Association recommends brushing twice daily (once in the morning and once before bed) for two minutes at a time, and flossing daily. Try not to slack on your oral hygiene during the holidays!
